You look like worry....

Tonight, in between meetings for work, karate (Gray), karate (Dylan), another work meeting and gymnastics, Olivia was helping me unload/load the dishwasher in record time before missing our next time stop.  She stopped and looked at me with her golden curls and said, "Mommy, you have a look like there is always worry in your brain."

I asked what made her think that and she couldn't really explain.  Which really made me think about life and my reactions while we continued to unload the dishwasher.  So, I decided to turn the tables and ask her if she worried.  Instantly, she replied with an emphatic... "NO!"

Then, Ms.Olivia corrected herself saying..."well, that is obviously not true because I have a little teeny tiny bit of worry, worrying about the worry you have in your brain when I watch you."

I really have to work on my reactions...stat.

Grayson chat 5/28/15

Driving G to the doctor today for a suspected case of pink eye, and from the back seat of the truck I hear the funniest question:
"Mom, when kids are grown ups do the Mommies have to still watch them?"
So, I go into the whole dissertation on the role of a mommy being to teach children to be independent and eventually be grown ups. I made sure to add in that we always love our babies and that we will probably always provide advice (my plug for later when I can't keep my mouth shut if he's making a terrible decision!).
He looked really concerned and replied:
"But, I want you to still be around me for help. I'm going to live in a house really, super close. And, I want to be able to always have you to love me even if I'm a grown up!"

Very profound for my little dude!

Far too long...

Giving my 'little kids' a bath tonight the convo was so funny, I thought...I have to capture this.  But, where?!?!?  Oh, that's right...I have this thing called a blog from 2007.  Thanks for being here still Mr. Blog.  I promise, I'm back.

Olivia made me laugh and feel a little sad tonight, when I realized how much of reality has been bestowed upon her during her 9 months of main-stream education.  She dropped a few bombs on me tonight during said, 'bath'.

Olivia: "How did you know to 'like' daddy?"
Me: "I love your daddy."
Olivia: "Well, if you love daddy...how did you break up with your other boyfriends?!?!"
Me: "We can discuss that when you're older."
Olivia: "Well, where do babies come from?"
Me: "They come from your tummy."
Olivia: "How do they get there?"
Me: "Mommies and Daddies love each other and then a baby is formed in their tummy"
Olivia: "Well, why don't all kids have daddy's?!?! Like XYZ kids at school?!?!"
Me: "Sometimes, it's not just a mommy and daddy, but two people who love each other."
Olivia: "Just like Abby at school.  Her daddy left when she was not born."
UMMMMMM....how do i save her innocence here?!?1
Me: "All children are special.  One parent, one grandparent, two dads, two moms, or a mom and dad...Abby is loved, that is what matters."
Olivia: "So, are we always staying together?"
Me: "Yes, no matter what!"

Love her...and us!

On the park bench....

So many little tales that I forget to document on this trusty blog, but not this time.  I will write this one down for the memories.

Leaving the neighborhood pool (yes, we moved by the way, but that hasn't made the blog yet) Olivia gestures over to the park bench near the playground.  She says, "Grayson, you know that bench could be someone's bed and home."  To which he says, "What bed?  Olivia, where's the house?"...clearly he is confused.  Olivia goes on to say, "If you make bad choices, and have no job, you have no money, and then that bench is YOUR house." Grayson keeps looking at the bench, hoping to find a person sleeping or something to help him understand her logic, to no avail.  Olivia then goes on to say (this is the BEST part)...."And, did you know that most homeless people are BOYS.  That's because the boys make most of the BAD choices.  So, you'd better be a good boy!"

LOVE HER!  And, sorta question what I have brainwashed her with :)
